Representing a matched set of guardian temple lions, the male and female figures are distinct: the male rests his foot upon a ball, while the female places hers upon a smaller foo dog. Both are perched atop an integrated carved base.
They are believed to bring luck, protection, and prosperity to any space. The pair stands 10.5 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide, and 5.5 inches deep. They are presented in their found condition and displayed beautifully, serving as functional bookends.
Condition: The carving is exquisite, with no significant damage observed besides some loss of gilt color and cracks in the wood. Please see all the photos as they are part of the description.
