A beautiful, vintage pair of carved, Chinese Foo Dogs or Guardian Lions made of gilt wood in the early 20th century. This exquisite pair of foo dog statues, crafted from carved wood and painted a deep red with substantial gold gilt, boast elaborate decorations adorning their backs.

Representing a matched set of guardian temple lions, the male and female figures are distinct: the male rests his foot upon a ball, while the female places hers upon a smaller foo dog. Both are perched atop an integrated carved base.

They are believed to bring luck, protection, and prosperity to any space. The pair stands 10.5 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide, and 5.5 inches deep. They are presented in their found condition and displayed beautifully, serving as functional bookends.
