Delightful Matching Pair of Hand Carved Walnut Wood Elephants with Babies. This unique and delightful matching pair of hand carved walnut wood elephants were specially made by a Chinese Sculptor. Each sculpture was hand carved out of heavy wood. I was told that each one would take the artist a few months to complete.

Each piece of wood was hand picked by the artist to have the desired wood grain and shape. The artist may have to wait for a few months to get the right piece of wood as he was only working on one type of wood (walnut wood). They were made by order with waiting time of eight months. After 30 years on display, they still look stunning and only the colour has very slightly faded - but still has a nice deep walnut shade.

The beautiful wood grain is clearly visible but the most amazing feature about these sculptures is that they capture the emotion of the running elephants, each carrying their babies by the front leg and nose... This really brings each of the sculptures alive. Each one is approximately 33cm (long) x 22cm (height) x 16cm (width), just over 4kg.
